There were subtle hints of growth all round during the past week at Cavex. Bid value grew by 1% taking the bids back over the £4 million mark and with over £200,000 of new offers placed overall activity has been steadily building.
Although still dominating trades on the exchange, Bordeaux lost market share to Burgundy and Italy throughout the week. However there has been a developing trend with prices for the majority of wines exchanging upwards from their most recent trades. A positive sign for the market after the lull these last few weeks.
Trade highlights of the week:
- Biggest Climber – Lynch Bages 2008 £380 (6) + 7.0% since 09/14
- Leoville Barton 2003 £690 + 6.2% since 10/14
- Pavillon Rouge 2009 £930 + 2.7% since 12/14
- Biggest Faller – Conseillante 2009 £1,230 – 12.1% since 03/14
- La Tache 2009 £6,160 – 3.8% since 06/13
- Cos d’Estournel 2008 £605 – 2.4% since 10/14
The latest hot stocks list some very well priced positions. A rarely seen offering of La Violette 2009 at £1,150 per 6, Duhart Milon 2009 at £575 trading steadily (with further stock to go) and a brace of Lafleur 1998 at £1,700. For those members looking for Bordeaux 2005’s there are still a few deals to be found on the exchange alongside a five case parcel of Mouton Rothschild 2005 at £4,400 per dozen.
Buyers this week are hunting for predominantly Bordeaux in vintages 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008 although we have taken requests for 1990’s First Growths and strong second growths from 1990 to 2000. If you are in a position to offer wines for sale please do get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll be happy to help.
