The market has overall been remarkably mixed this week. In the news, Robert Parker hit the headlines stating that En Primeur was largely dead. The response from one Bordeaux Chateau, Pichon Lalande, was to declare that 2014 is a great vintage “the makings of a miracle”. Make your own assumptions from these articles on the links provided.
Trades through the week were equally mixed with Bordeaux 2005’s trading strongly whilst other stellar vintage/iconic wines which performed well over the past year slid somewhat against previous trading data.
Trade highlights of the week:
- Biggest Climber – Branaire Ducru 2005 £550 +22.2% since 04/10/14
- Flor de Pingus 2010 £550 +14.6% since 19/03/14
- Montrose 2005 £930 +8.14% since 21/01/15
- Biggest Faller – Yquem 2001 £1700 (12 x 37.5) -12.8% since 19/02/14
- Pavie 2009 £2200 – 10.2% since 09/06/14
- Mouton 2008 £1400 (6 x 75) – 3.4% since 06/01/15
Trading declined slightly during the same period with overall positions falling by 1.25% to £5.81 million. Offers grew by 2.7%, whilst bidders feeling a little less buoyant dropped activity by 3.12%. The result took the bid to offer ratio on the exchange to 2.02:1, the lowest since October 2014.
Notably on the Cavex exchange, although we witnessed a decline in bidding activity, interest was heightened for Italian wines. Therefore in this week’s hot offers we have highlighted a great selection of Italian wines all at best UK market prices and immediately available.
Members continue to look for significant quantities of Leoville Barton, Lynch Bages alongside good to market bids for First Growths Haut Brion and Lafite. If you are a holder of these stocks and are interested in offering them for sale, do get in touch on firstname.lastname@example.org
