Market trends on the Cavex platform once again follow a downward direction this week as sellers try to attract buyers. The previous week’s activity had seen a decline in bid volume and value which continued further this week seeing buyers adjust positions and exposure. However, there has been a notable increase in bidding activity for drinking wines over the past seven days with private collectors placing and amending more bids than trade members. Has the general market reached a level where value is believed to be returning?
This week, members have placed £140,000 of new positions with some great parcels of stock on offer from Burgundy producer’s such as Jean Phillippe Fichet, who is seen to offer fantastic value for money on his wines from Meursault and Puligny Montrachet. There are further offerings of white’s from Louis Carilon and Joseph Drouhin at very keen prices, all awaiting bids. A rare case of Meo Camuzet’s Richebourg 2009 3 x 75 at £2,425 tops the Red Burgundy offerings, of which there are many to look through.
Rhone wines have also been popular through the week with an attractive parcel of Clos des Papes 2004 being offered at £350 per dozen alongside Pierre Usseglio’s CNDP 2003 at £240 per dozen. Both wines will be drinking perfectly now.
We have recently started an upgrade of our platform at Cavex, seeing the introduction of new PDF invoicing, particularly useful for our trade members. This function now allows all members to receive PDF invoices at the moment of matching and additionally keep an archive record at the press of a button found in the transaction page. A bid and offer window straight from the My Cave screen has also been added which allows each member to view all live positions against your own specific wines direct from your portfolio without the need to visit the trading screen.
This continued roll out of new developments over the coming months will see many new functions appearing, but we very much value member feedback so if you do have any recommendations, please send your comments to the email address below.
