Trading on Cavex this past week has seen Bordeaux wines account for 95% of the deals matched. The current trend continues with prices softening a little further, but there are noticeably a few wines holding firm. A question that is repeatedly asked by our members is, “How long will this softening of prices continue?” A very tough call for any wine soothsayer these days, but all we can state is the continuing figures that trade through Cavex that show the actual picture.
Trades grew in pace as the week progressed with Pavie 2009 regularly being matched at £2475, remaining flat since previous trading in January. Pontet Canet 2009 has also started to move consistently around the £1475-£1480 mark. La Fleur Petrus 2009 and 2010 had a flurry of trades race through at £760 (6) for both vintages and Montrose 2003 had a brace of trades at £1440, up 2.85% since its last traded mark in January. The most interesting trend to emerge this week appears to be Mouton Rothschild stabilising, with the 2008 now consistently trading at the £3000 mark with bids in reserve at this price. The 2003 has traded 1.62% up since late January, whilst the 2000 vintage, which has recently been attracting the most attention in the fine wine market, is now bid at £9850 up almost 2%, also from mid January.
Both bid and offer positions grew this week with £350,000 worth of new additions placed. The offers saw most improvement taking the total offers position to just over £1.8million, spread over 2065 cases.
There have been some very keenly priced wines offered so do take a look at the new stock offered for sale via the below links, clearly highlighted and easily filtered to enable quick searches. Wines such as Bonnes Mares Roumier 1999 6 x 75 at £5,000, 9 cases of Bourgogne Rouge Meo Camuzet 2010 12 x 75 at £200 and 16 cases of Grand Veneur CNDP 2010 6 x 75 at £95 are surely worth a bid.
